A Slyce of Fun: Watermelon Swim Partners with Glazer Children’s Museum

We’re making a splash in the community with a brand-new partnership: Watermelon Swim is now an official corporate partner of the Glazer Children’s Museum, Tampa Bay’s leader in play-based learning!
Glazer’s mission is to foster a community that values play as a foundation for children’s growth and development, something that pairs perfectly with Watermelon Swim’s mission to build confidence in and around the water and create a community of safer swimmers. We believe that play and water safety go hand in hand, and this partnership is the perfect way to bring both worlds together in meaningful, memorable ways.
Plus, the timing couldn’t be better — we’re kicking things off just in time for April’s focus of the month: Slyce of Fun!
Making Waves During Water Safety Month
May is National Water Safety Month, and we’re teaming up with Glazer to make waves of awareness throughout the Tampa Bay Area!
This May, the Glazer Children’s Museum will host our collaborative ‘Safer Swim’ PSA campaign — an immersive in-museum experience that will weave water safety tips and interactive learning into everyday play. Families visiting the museum will discover:
- Colorful signage featuring lifesaving swim safety tips
- Meet and greet with Watermelon Swim mascot Slyce
- A special story time event
- Exciting giveaways for our WMS families
The goal? To help children and caregivers learn the basics of water safety in fun, playful, and engaging ways, just in time for summer.
Special Water Safety Story Time
We’re bringing water safety to story time with a very special guest! Our beloved mascot, Slyce the watermelon slice, will be joining us at the museum to meet new friends and help share important water safety tips in a fun, engaging way.
This exciting event will feature a special meet-and-greet with Slyce along with a water safety-themed story time presentation designed to blend early literacy with life-saving lessons. Families who attend can look forward to spinning our prize wheel, taking photos with Slyce, and enjoying interactive water safety fun!
It’s the perfect mix of education and excitement—just in time to get little ones ready for a safer summer.

A Sweet Sponsorship: Gingerbread Village
The fun doesn’t stop when summer ends, we’re already looking forward to the holidays! From November 1st to January 4th, Glazer’s famous Gingerbread Village will take over the MakerSpace with festive fun for the whole family with Watermelon Swim as the presenting sponsor.
As part of this sweet tradition, kids can help build and decorate a magical gingerbread town, and this year, they’ll see Watermelon Swim branding sprinkled throughout the exhibit, including fun reminders to “install pool barriers” around their gingerbread homes!
With Slyce making special appearances and our logo featured around the village, families will be reminded that water safety is important year-round, because winter swim lessons create summer swimmers!
