Why choose our swimming lessons in Lutz
Program Overview
Our learn-to-swim program has a low, 4:1 student-to-instructor ratio. This low ratio permits us to give each student personalized attention and ensure the safety of everyone in the pool. Every class is structured to build on the skills and techniques taught in the level before, so students can easily progress from one level to the next.
The goal is to gain a strong foundation of knowledge and only level up once they complete each requirement without using personal flotation equipment.
As students grow in their abilities, our advanced swim lessons continue to boast a low, 6:1 student-to-instructor ratio, allowing stroke technique to be refined in a small group setting. Parent and child classes have a 6:1 ratio as well, allowing individualized attention, while creating a group setting that promotes socialization for your babies.
We offer the following swimming classes at our indoor, state-of-the-art pool in Lutz, year-round.
Water Babies – Lutz
These classes emphasize parent involvement, so you can experience teaching your child to love the water.
Water Babies swim classes introduce infants (aged 0 to 6 months) to a lifelong love of water.
It’s a fun, relaxing bonding time for parents and children. Babies improve their coordination and muscle control and get used to partial submersion.
Water Babies is TUITION-FREE for all enrolled families, and classes are offered year-round. New Watermelon Swim parents pay a registration fee of just $55, covering all family members for a full year. Current members can enroll their babies at no additional charge. There is a limit of 10 parent-child pairs for each class.
Parent-Tot 1 & 2 – Lutz
Parent-Tot 1 and 2 are the next steps up from Water Babies. These classes are for children aged 6 months to 2 years and introduce fundamental swimming, safety, and survival skills. These small classes have up to six children per instructor, so there’s plenty of individualized attention for each swimmer.
Parent-Tot 1 introduces breath control, submersion, and floating, so children become used to balance and buoyancy in the water.
Parent-Tot 2 builds on the introductory skills learned in Parent-Tot 1. The instructors encourage children to have more independence in the water, encouraging kicking, floating, and independent movement with parental guidance and supervision.
Watermelon Swim’s innovative teaching methods and small group setting make learning fun. Young children learn the valuable skills necessary to learn to swim on their own.
Learn to Swim – Lutz
Learn to Swim group classes are grouped based on ability, then age, with no more than a 2-year age range in each class. These are small classes, with an instructor-student ratio of just 1:4. This ensures safety for everyone and provides plenty of individual instruction for each student. Learn to Swim class goals include basic water safety and rudimentary swim techniques and practice breath control.
Age 7 & Up – Lutz
Age 7 & older swim classes in Lutz are for children aged 7 and older who are learning beginner swimming skills. The classes are grouped by ability, and each student must master all class goals without flotation devices or assistance before leveling up to the next one.
At the end of Level 4, students should be confident swimming independently and know how to prevent accidents.
Swimmers with Disabilities – Lutz
Watermelon Swim Swimmers With Disabilities offers special classes for adults or children with physical or mental disabilities who want to learn to swim. These classes also have a low ratio of students to instructors.
Swim instructors receive special training to encourage people with disabilities and teach swimming skills with adaptations to accommodate everyone’s limitations and abilities. We also provide one-on-one lessons if this is a more appropriate option.
Your swim instructor gets to know you and your learning style so they can then set goals and achieve extraordinary results. We mix fun with a challenge and plenty of individual attention.
