Around 5,000 years ago, the first recorded harvest of watermelon was in Egypt. Back then, many people used the fruit as a natural water canteen.
Watermelon is the state vegetable of Oklahoma
Yes, vegetable, even though it’s botanically a fruit. Oklahoma made it official back in 2007.
Watermelon comes in more than just pink
Some varieties are yellow or orange on the inside instead of the classic red-pink, though they taste similar!
