About Sweet Peas Gymnastics
Sweet Peas Educational Gymnastics is an early childhood gymnastics program designed to promote children’s social, cognitive, and physical development from 6 months to 6 years old. Each class focuses on their age group’s neural and physical development stages.
We base our lessons on the principle that movement and sensory activities strengthen and bond the synapses—connections between neurons in the brain. While we emphasize fun, your child’s benefits from our classes go beyond exploring the world around them. We help forge the essential architecture of your child’s brain, benefiting them for the rest of their lives.
About our classes
Our age-appropriate programs are founded on educational gymnastics, emphasizing flexibility, balance, coordination, and core strength. Each small class is presented in a social, collaborative environment so your child can learn and make new friends while honing gymnastics techniques.
Every class is centered on life lessons, plenty of encouragement and applause, and developing your child’s confidence.
Sweet Peas’ progressive programs incorporate music, color recognition, and basic counting skills. Children learn valuable lessons beyond tricks and tumbling. Your child learns to listen to the instructor and follow directions, when to wait their turn, and how to encourage others and applaud their successes.
Classes are structured so children can learn at their own pace while mastering the skills necessary to advance to the next level.
At Sweet Peas Educational Gymnastics, we are passionate about nurturing young minds and bodies through the joy of movement. Our classes offer more than just gymnastics skills; they provide a foundation for lifelong learning and personal growth. As your child leaps, tumbles, and balances, they’re having fun and building crucial life skills in a supportive and engaging environment.
Sweet Peas classes
Gymnastics students at Sweet Peas are grouped by age, starting at six months and going up to 6 years. Each class teaches children skills they can master at every developmental stage. Our classes are small, so there is plenty of individual attention and encouragement.
Our tiniest peas are babies who can sit and crawl. In Wee Peas, babies have opportunities to master gross and fine motor skills in a safer place where they can reach, climb, grow, and explore. We practice name recognition in each class and teach children how to react to the teacher when their name is spoken.
Wee Peas enjoy activities that promote grip, hand-eye coordination, and the balance needed to learn to stand and walk. We also teach spatial awareness in gentle, developmentally appropriate inversion and rolling exercises.
Your baby will have fun, meet other babies, and improve cognitive function and dexterity. You’ll be amazed at the learning and development in your child’s first class as a Wee Pea as we set them up to grow through our Sweet Peas Educational Gymnastics Program.

Your newly walking toddler is ready to explore the world, and One Peas is just the place to give them an immersive physical and cognitive experience. Our active learning goals in this class include promoting neural development while learning the basics of stepping, balancing, swinging, and sliding.
Each class involves baby rhythm and sequencing, coordinating the gymnastics activities with music, and teaching your one-year-old to clap, step, stop, start, and repeat the activity. Children learn to mimic their instructor and recognize the pattern, anticipating the next sequence.
We blend simple memorization, cognitive development, and gross motor skills—watch as your little one is eager to show you what they learn in class each day!
Independent, curious, and active, active, active—this is a two-year-old! At Sweet Peas, we embrace this stage of child development with whole-body activities and synchronized movements. Our Two-Year-Olds learn to balance on alternating feet, roll backward and forward on a wedge, practice working toward somersaults, and learn physical motion to fun, playful songs.
We introduce the concepts of compare and contrast, recognition, sequential movement, and patterns. Plus, we increase language development with word association and physical movements.
Your child is immersed in a multi-sensory gymnastics experience that improves their cognitive function through recognition of shapes and patterns and improves their use and understanding of spoken language. Children learn swiftly through movement and remember better when music and rhythm are part of the teaching.
We engage their sense of fun, harness their energy, and provide a safer introduction to the next stages of beginning gymnastics.
Three Peas builds on the patterns, movements, and skills your child learned in Two Peas. Don’t worry if your child is just starting gymnastics at age 3. Our classes are designed to meet a three-year-old’s developmental abilities even if they have never set foot in a gymnastics center.
Parents will be excited to see their child learning the basics of balance beam work like relevé walks and forward kicks. Children love getting to tumble on the floor with forward rolls and our special Three Pea Cartwheel. Watch your child eagerly show you their latest skills, practicing their rolls and cartwheels at home!
We also learn the vault, punching the board with both feet, and donkey kicks. Lessons incorporate spatial learning, with directional and sequential cues, and continue developing their understanding of the differences in colors, shapes, and sizes. Our courses lean into the growing independence of three-year-olds through structured circuit sequences they can learn to complete independently.
Social development at this age is so, so important. We foster an environment of cooperation and support among your child’s fellow Three Peas and plenty of fun, fun, fun! The active learning in gymnastics and the child-focused support of our Sweet Peas team help your child grow and thrive.

Your four-year-old can excel in Sweet Peas’ educational gymnastics! Their independence, rapidly increasing cognitive development, and greater physical abilities mean they can do multi-step activities and use more advanced gymnastics techniques
Did you know your four-year-old needs at least 60 to 90 minutes of active play daily? We give them plenty of open space to bounce, swing, run, and climb while they learn the elements of each gymnastics discipline.
We work on refining the skills learned in Three Peas, like kicks with straighter legs and longer holds, as your child executes each move. Once your child learns the rudiments of each skill, we emphasize speed and accuracy. We also continue developing your child’s cognitive abilities with better differentiation between left and right, group singing and counting, and independent participation in structured activities.
Your Five Pea is going through a lot of changes! They’re gearing up for kindergarten or have already started and have increased independence and self-awareness. They also have more refined coordination and longer arms and legs than our smaller students, meaning they can complete more advanced skills.
In Five Peas, we refine your child’s techniques, focusing on the lines of their body and form. We also get to do more tricks! Your child will enjoy more floor activities, from handstands to bridges and forward rolls.
We also focus on the floor strength needed for all gymnastics activities, plus balance on the beam. Finally, on the vault, it’s all about power and speed. Our little runners can hit the board with both feet and execute their donkey kicks with more power and refinement.
Our Sweet Peas “seniors,” Six Peas, are ready for just about anything in our educational gymnastics center! Our oldest tumblers can follow multi-step directions, making our routines more complex and fun! Many are also learning to read, so we incorporate reading into our lessons.
Watch your Six Pea turn a straight-legged cartwheel, do a handstand, and even jump to front support on the balance beam! We’re also excited to teach them to execute movement to the rhythm of music, with clapping, counting, and plenty of encouraging practice. The bars are much more fun for our children as Six Peas learn window pikes and straddles, arm hangs, and pullovers. They’ll be flipping like an Olympian in no time!
How swimming lessons and gymnastics complement one another
Swimming and gymnastics are natural partners, like peanut butter and jelly. The flexibility and core strength your child develops in gymnastics can help them safely master swimming skills. Swimming is a fun, action-packed cardiovascular exercise that gives your child the heart and lung conditioning they need for success in gymnastics.
Many of our Sweet Peas are also Watermelon Swim students. The fun-focused and child-friendly activities at each location support well-rounded children finding success in preschool, kindergarten, and beyond.
