Opening Fall of 2024
The world is 71% water, and your child is 100% curious. Watermelon Swim’s mission is to grow a community of safer swimmers and reduce the risks while increasing confidence in and around the water. From infants to adults, Brooksville swim lessons with Team Melon are a perfect fit.
The beach and Gulf are a short drive away, and there are pools in almost every backyard. What would your child do if they fell into the water unexpectedly? We combine safety and survival with proper swim technique to build your child’s skills level by level.

Why teach my child to swim?
Teaching children Swim skills early in life, including what to do if they unexpectedly fall into the water, can help reduce accidents and give your child valuable knowledge of how to stay safe in the water.
When your child takes swim lessons, they reap benefits beyond water skills and safety. According to a study conducted by Griffith University, children who took swim lessons before the age of 5 tended to be more physically, socially, and intellectually advanced than their peers who did not.
Swimming is excellent exercise, too. Regular swimming improves your child’s cardiovascular capabilities and strengthens all the muscle groups in the body. It’s also low-impact and better for the joints, no matter how old you are.

Program Overview – Brooksville
All Watermelon Swim classes have a low student-to-instructor ratio, so each student receives plenty of personalized attention. Each class teaches skills to build on skills taught in the class before, giving your child the knowledge they need to succeed and progress safely.
Classes are offered year-round, starting with Water Babies for infants 0-6 months. The Brooksville location offers Learn to Swim classes from levels 1-6, then more advanced classes for older children.
We also offer private lessons, swim team training, and classes for swimmers with disabilities (adults-only classes and children-only classes).
Water Babies – Brooksville
Introduce your baby to the water in a fun, relaxed aquatic environment. Water Babies is a non-submersion parent-and-child class that safely introduces your baby to the water. Enjoy a unique bonding experience and boost your child’s development emotionally, intellectually, and physically.
Current Watermelon Swim families can register for Water Babies at no additional cost; new families pay a $55 membership fee that includes TUITION-FREE Water Babies classes.
Parent-Tot 1 & 2 – Brooksville
Parent-Tot 1 & 2 begin teaching safety, swim, and survival skills to children aged six months to 2 years. Each class has six parent-child pairs, and the skills taught in Parent-Tot 2 build on those taught in Parent-Tot 1. Each child will be in the water with their parent or caregiver.
We begin teaching your child to become more comfortable with breath control, buoyancy, balance, and submersion. Early, consistent Swim lessons are critical to keeping your child safer in and around the water. We pair safety with innovative and creative teaching methods for our smallest swimmers to understand.
Learn to Swim – Brooksville
Learn to Swim classes have a very small, 4:1 student-to-teacher ratio. Students are placed in groups by ability and age, to ensure each child is in a group with those in the same skill level and development range. Classes are 30 minutes long and structured for a positive and caring teaching environment.
Each class also focuses on teaching water safety and survival skills at age-appropriate levels. We want our swimmers to understand how to find help and how to remain safe and calm until help arrives.
Children learn best through fun! We incorporate play into each lesson, making learning entertaining yet challenging.
Age 7 & Up – Brooksville
We offer Learn To Swim classes for older swimmers, too. The Age 7 & Up (for children seven and older) lessons build on the same progression as the Learn To Swim program, with the same benchmarks and progressions. Swimmers learn basic swim skills, building their abilities in four levels of classes (Levels 1-4). We foster a genuine love of swimming with a continued emphasis on water safety and survival.
Swimmers with Disabilities – Brooksville
Our Swimmers with Disabilities instructors receive special training to help adults and children with physical or intellectual disabilities learn survival and swim skills and water safety techniques at their level. Group and private classes are available, determined by that student’s needs and what learning environment will best suit them. We get to know each swimmer to cultivate a positive experience for them. Accommodations are available for swimmers needing additional support.
Encouragement, appropriately challenging classes, attainable goals, and plenty of celebration can help our swimmers achieve extraordinary results.
